There are two chapels in Doshisha University.
“The Doshisha University Chapel” and “Clark Memorial Hall”

They have been designated as national important cultural assets and
only alumni and faculty of Doshisha University are allowed to have the wedding ceremony there.
 

Doshisha Chapel
It was built in 1886.
It’s the oldest Protestant brick chapel in Japan.
The beautiful stained glasses in five colors have attracted many people to date and it will continue to do so in the future.

Clark Memorial Hall
Built in 1897 and it is still in a symbolic brick exterior of Doshisha University.
And it has accumulated its history as a place for the Theological research and study.

A PRECIOUS DAY IN KYOTO / OHARANO SHRINE

In Enryaku 3 (794), when Emperor Kammu relocated the imperial capital to Nagaokakyo, Oharano Shrine was built in the western edge of the capital to enshrine the patron gods of Kasuga-taisha in Nara.
Kasuga-taisha was the deity of powerful Fujiwara clan at that time. Oharano Shrine is also called “Kyo-Kasuga”.

The shrine is famous for the Autumn leaves and the landscape that spreads over the vast precincts is a breathtakingly beautiful.

You can be dressed for the wedding ceremony on site in the morning.
Away from the bustle of the city, you can spend a quiet and relaxing day.

In Oharano Shrine, you can enjoy different atmosphere depending on the season; cherry blossoms, fresh greenery and autumn leaves and so on.

A WEDDING FAIR AT SAAMI RYOUTEI RESTAURANT / KYOTO WEDDING

We held a wedding fair at Saami ryoutei restaurant on February 2nd.
It was great to have so many guests at the fair.

The guests also enjoyed trying the kimono and the wig, and having their pictures taken by a professional photographer.

A PRECIOUS DAY IN KYOTO, OKAZAKI SHRINE & SAAMI RYOUTEI RESTAURANT

Okazaki Shrine is one of the shrines which emperor Kammu ordered to build
and it is called “Higashi(=East) Tenno” as it is located in the east part of Kyoto.
The deities have long been worshiped as gods of conception and smooth childbirth

Saami was built by Oda Yorinaga, a nephew of Oda Nobunaga.
It became a ryoutei (restaurant) in the 2nd year of Kaei period and has been patronized by many authors, artists and celebrities.

Saami has a lot of “must-see” places such as the garden which shows different colors from season to
and the historic “cha-shitsu (=a room for tea ceremony)”.

The wedding ceremony at Okazaki Shrine that has both historical and cultural charms

A PRECIOUS DAY IN KYOTO, YOSHIDA SHRINE & YOSHIDA SANSO

In the 1st year of Jogan period (AD859), Yoshida Shrine was founded as the guardian deity of ancient Kyoto “Heian” by Fujiwara no Yamakage.
Yoshida shrine is located at the foot of Mt.Yoshida which has another name “Kagura-oka (=the hill at where the gods are gathering)”.

Yoshida Sanso was originally built as a second house of prince Higashi-Fushimi, a great uncle of present emperor.
It is made of Japanese cypress wood and you can find “Uragiku” emblem on each roof tile.

The building is a mixture of Japanese and foreign culture, and registered as a tangible cultural property.

Mt.Yoshida is a great place where you can discover the beauty of nature from season to season, and Yoshida Shrine and Yoshida Sanso are the perfect combination for “a beautiful and precious day in Kyoto”.

The enshrined deity of Kamigamo Shrine is “Kamowake Ikazuchi-no-Okami”, who is worshiped as a god for warding off evil.

It is a historical shrine which is registered as the World Heritage Site.

“Kyoryori Sakurai” is located by the Myoujin-river which is flowing from the precincts of Kamigamo Shrine.
Sakurai is popular for its cozy and warm atmosphere that makes the guests feel like as if they are invited to the friend’s house.

The well cared garden and the pond with carps can entertain from the little children to the seniors.

Yasaka Shrine is located in the center of Kyoto and famous for Gion Matsuri.
It is the shrine of the guardian god of surrounding Shijo area and many people visit for worship.

Shimogamo Shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Kyoto and is registered as a World Heritage Site.
It has been long worshipped as the god of matchmaking and parenting.

WHOLE FAMILY MEMBERS ON THE 9TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A couple who got married with our service in 2010 came to Saami Ryoutei Restaurant.

They celebrate their anniversary and take family portrait at this time every year.

Their third child, a girl who was born last year, has grown so big now.
And her older brothers are now handsome big boys!
