Summer present

At the Japanese style restaurant Kinobu, in Kyoto, we savoured a summer specialty, the “Hamozushi”.

In Kyoto, during the Gyon Festival period, there is a tradition which is to eat eels or other similar long foods in order to gain energy.

As I opened the package received by the restaurant Kinobu, I discovered the drawing of “Hokos”, which are festival floats mounted with a decorative halberd.

All the staff members increased in vitality after having tasted these delicious sushis.
We are grateful for having received this summer present until now.

The 「LST DRESS」Salon opened on the same floor of the LST Wedding Kyoto Head Office.
Doushisha weddings, a traditional Japanese style restaurant and a wedding restaurant are linked by the theme「DRESS」.
This space can be used as a wedding consultation room and in the inner part there is also a makeup rehearsal private room. Everything is set up in order to relieve one’s mind until the appointed day.

Every year, in order to satisfy the clients, little by little changes・evolution are made, however I could notice how the 3 salons -「Japanese Style Wedding Planning」,「KIMONO」, 「DRESS」- and the 8 single rooms where preparations and makeup rehearsal can be done, constitute a really complete space.

Hereafter too, within the theme 「Wedding in Kyoto」, the LST’ s aim is to set up the most suitable place for the newly-weds・relatives・guests in order to have「a wedding corresponding to both newly-weds 」.

24日、祇園祭りの「環幸祭」にLSTスタッフといきました。

17日より四条の御旅所に鎮座されていた神様が、
祇園祭発祥の地である御供社に立ち寄って八坂神社へ還られる日です。

八坂神社の舞殿に御神輿が運ばれるまで、
担ぎ手の方々がこれでもかという位、力をふりしぼり、
御神輿を担ぐ姿に圧倒され、本当に感動します。

そして、神聖な「御霊返し」。
うまれて初めて「御霊返し」を目の前で見ました。

舞殿から本殿に神様の御霊を移す神事で、
八坂神社のすべての明かりが消され、暗闇と沈黙の中、行われます。
もちろん写真撮影は不可、携帯電話も切るよう指示があります。
暗闇の中で、神職の方による、時折動く白い布、お琴の響く音が
神秘的で深く感動しました。
31日の「疫神社夏越祭」ですべての祇園祭りの幕が閉じます。

一つひとつの行事に意味がある、祇園祭。
多くの人々に支えられ、受け継がれていくことに、ただただ、感動です。

これからも祇園祭を毎年、見送りたいと思います。

Kyoto Gyon Festival　３

On the 24th of July, I went with the LST staff to the「Wasachi Festival」of the Gyon Festival.

On this day, the deity who had been enshrined in the Shijo at the Otanisho on the 17th returns to the place of origin, to the Yasaka shrine.

I was really impressed by all the people shouldering the Omikoshi (portable shrine), summoning up their strength and carrying it into the Maidono (court music pavilion in a Shinto shrine) of the Yasaka shrine.

Moreover, it was the first time I saw a「divine’s departed soul coming back」.

During the Shinto’s ritual, in which the deity was transfered from the Maidono to the main shrine, all the lights were put out. It was in the darkness and the silence that the ritual took place.

Of course, photographs were forbidden and there were instructions to put on hold cellular phones.

The mysterious atmosphere created by the presence of a Shinto priesthood, a white fabric which moved sometimes and the sound of a Koto (a 13-stringed Japanese zither) profoundly touched me.
On the 31th, all the curtains of the Gyon Festival will close with the「Ekijinja Nagoshi Festival」.

Each event happening during the Gyon Festival has a meaning.

I am absolutely impressed by the fact that lots of people support and inherit this festival.

As long as I live in Kyoto, I wish to come to see the Gyon Festival each year.

先日、6月に挙式をなされたご夫妻がサロンへお越しくださいました。
もうすぐパパとママになられるお二人、お話の内容はやはり出産や子育てについてがメインとなりました。
大きくなったお腹をなでながら幸せそうなお顔で「早く会いたい！」とお話なされる新婦様と、少ーし緊張した面持ちの新郎様。
こうやって命が繋がり、家族の時間を積み重ねて、あと20〜30年もすれば今度は親御様として結婚式に出席なされるのかもしれないです。その時には、ご自身の結婚式を思い出したりなされるのでしょうか…。
そんなことを想像して、改めてご縁に感謝いたしました。

ガラス作家の新婦様が「貝殻」をイメージして作られた器をいただきました。
とっても涼しげで綺麗な器、どうやって使おうかな？と楽しく思案中です。

Mrs. Shinpu, the author of the glassware

The other day, the husband and wife, whom we had organized the wedding in June, came to the LST Salon.
The talk’s contents were centered on childbirth and child rising, which is not a surprise knowing that both of them are going to be parents soon.
On one hand, there was Mrs. Shinpu, who told us how restless she was to see the child, while passing a hand on her stomach with a joyful expression. On the other hand there was Mr. Shinro, who showed a distressed look.
Life is now connected, the time spent as parents will accumulate and 20~30 years will pass, maybe this time they will have another role as parents at a wedding ceremony…
At this moment, will they remember their own wedding ceremony…?
The couple thanked us again while thinking about what will happen next.

We received as a present a glassware with the shape of a「shell」, made by Mrs. Shinpu.
I am pondering how I could use this refreshing to look at and beautiful glassware.

奈良時代より「土用の丑の日には鰻を食して夏をのりきる」という風習がございます。

私共スタッフは今年も京料理さくらいさんよりいただいた鰻をいただきました。
毎年変わらぬ温かいお心遣いに感謝の想いでいっぱいです。

The ox day of the hottest period of summer

Today it is the「ox day of the hottest period of summer」.
From the Nara period (710-794 CE) the customs is to eat eels in order to overcome summer.

This year too, we, the staff, had the pleasure to savour eels in the Kyoryouri (Japanese style cooking) Sakurai restaurant.

We feel lots of gratitude for this warm mind tamer that does not change throughout the years.
Thank you very much for every time.

This summer too, we wish to work hard with utmost efforts.

21日、LST東京店にて「和装　かつら・洋髪体験会」を行いました。

朱色の口紅をひき、かつらをお召しになられ、白無垢を試着するのに約10分。
あれよあれよという間に“日本の花嫁”を体感いただけます。
そんなご新婦様の姿を写真におさめるご新郎様。
とても微笑ましく、楽しい時間です。
かつら姿も綿帽子や角隠しでガラっと印象が変わり、ご新婦様も驚き顔。
洋髪アレンジも体験していただき、当日のイメージをより深めて頂けたようです。

Dressing in kimono　Wig・Western style hairstyle　Trial Session　〜LST Tokyo Office〜

On the 21th of July, 21日、the [Dressing in kimono Wig ・Western style hairstyle Trial Session] was held in the LST Tokyo Office.

It took about ten minutes to put on a vermillion colour lipstick, the wig and to try on the pure white kimono. These are the essentials equipments in order to represent the traditional “bride of Japan”.
Looking at his bride dressed in the traditional way, Mr. Shinro dedicated her some pictures.
It was a very cheerful and pleasant time.

Mrs. Shinpu’s look changed as she saw herself with the wig, the bride’s silk floss headdress and the bride’s hood, which are worn at a Japanese wedding.

She was able to deepen her own appearance experiencing new hairstyles, as the Western one.

17日に「山鉾巡行」が行われ、同日の夕刻より「神幸祭」が行われました。

実は祇園祭りの主役は「御神輿の神事」です。
1,500人以上もの御神輿の担ぎ手の方が八坂神社の氏子たちの各町内を練り歩き
四条の御旅所まで行きます。
24日にまた、御旅所より八坂神社本殿に戻ります（環幸祭）。

山鉾巡行は「静」の祭り、御神輿は「動」の祭りといわれ、
御神輿は担ぎ手の方の迫力があり、人々に深い感動を与えます。
まだ見られていない方は是非ご覧いただければと思います。

7月の祇園祭りも残すところ、あと僅か。
会社からの帰り道、御旅所に立ち寄り、お蝋燭を供えました。
すべての神事が滞りなくすすむようにとの願いと、
今年、京都で祇園祭に触れることができた事への感謝の気持ちを込め灯しました。

On the 17th of July, the「Yamabokojunchou」took place and it was followed at nightfall by a festival called「shinkousai」.

Actually the title role of the “Gyon” Festival is to set up religious services using the 「Omikoshi」. The Omikoshi is a portable shrine, which is carried in festivals.

There are more than 1500 people who carry the Omikoshi. They are local residents worshiping the same guardian deity at the shrine Yasaka.
The parade goes until the “Otabisho” of the Shijou. The Otabisho is a place where the sacred palanquin is lodged during a festival.

On the 24th, the parade comes back from the Otabisho to the shrine Yasaka, which is the main shrine (Wasachisai).

The “Yamabokojunshou” is said to be the festival of the「静 Shizu」and the “Omikoshi” is said to be the「動 Dou 」festival.
The Omikoshi needs the power of all the people carrying it and it leaves a deep impression on everyone as a godsend.

I particularly recommend to see these festivals for those who have not been able to see some yet.

As the month of July is ending, only a slight trace of the Gyon Festival remains.
After work, on the way back home, I stopped at Otabisho to make an offering lighting some candles.
I wished that all the Shinto rituals would go off all right without a hitch.
I feel also a lot of gratitude to have been able to experience the Kyoto Gyon Festival this year.

当日一通のお手紙をご用意くださいました

新婦様がお色直しをなされている間、外はバケツをひっくりかえしたような雨…

披露宴会場の二間隣りの新婦様のお控室まで、
そのたいせつなお便りが濡れないようにとお持ちさせて頂きました。

「たいせつな方からお預かりしてきました…」
新婦様は驚いた表情をなされたのちに、そっと受け取られ　封を開けられると

「初めて手紙を書きます…」

から始まる２枚にわたるラブレターをじっと読み終え

そして　幸せそうに微笑んでくださいました。

普段はメールやラインでやり取りをなされていらっしゃる新郎新婦様
初めてのラブレターには今までの感謝とこれから旦那様…そして父親になられる
新郎様の決意があふれていらっしゃいました

披露宴が進む中、こんな素敵なサプライズ…

挙式当日はさまざまな物語がうまれます

こうして新郎新婦様のそばで幸せのお手伝いをさせて頂きますことに

After the wedding celebration, which took place this weekend at the Kamigamo Shrine, the LST Company supported the wedding ceremony at the “Kyouryouri” (Japanese style cooking) restaurant Sakurai.

Mr. Shinro who told us formerly to have prepared a surprise to Mrs. Shinpu…
that day, prepared a letter.

While Mrs. Shinpu was making adjustments regarding the colours, outside it was heavily raining…

We made particular precautions in order to stay dry while going along with Mrs. Shinpu to the waiting room near the wedding ceremony room.

Mrs. Shinpu showed an expression of surprise when she took out the seal of the letter she had just received.

He finished to read the two pages of the love letters, which began by:
「It is the first time I have ever written a love letter…」

Then, he smiled happily to the audience.

The newly-weds who usually had been writing by e-mail or by the application Line, were deeply touched by this love letter. Thanks for everything until that day and also, as a husband and as a future father, the promises for their future were overflowing.
While the wedding ceremony was making progress, such a delightful surprise happened…

Tales could emerge on that day.

This day brought me lots of happiness thanks to have been close to the newly-weds.

お料理はフレンチ。
夏野菜と魚介がまるで絵画のような一皿。
いただくのがもったいないくらいです。

Shooting at the restaurant Muto.
It is situated along the Horikawa Street and its windows reflected the green colour of the landscape, which was particularly gorgeous.

The cooking was French.
One plate looked like a painting thanks to the vivid summer greens and shellfishes ingredients.
It was quite a pity to taste this beautiful dish.

We are waiting for the Summer Coordinate『Restaurant Muto Consultation』 which is going to take place on the 27th of July 2013.

7月にはいり、祇園囃子が聞こえる季節になりました。
京都で生まれ育ち、30年もなかば、毎年、楽しみな季節です。
7月17日に行われる、山鉾巡行にむけ、四条通では鉾がたちはじめました。

山鉾巡行は祇園祭りの、ほんの一部。
日本「三大祭」に数えられる祇園祭は、
さまざまな神事が7月から1ヶ月間、行われています。

祇園祭りは神事。一つひとつの行事すべてに意味があり、
京都の人々は大切に受け継いできました。
まだまだ知られていない、本当の京都をLSTから発信できればと思います。

The month of July is beginning and it becomes a seasons in which one can hear various instruments as flutes, drums and dongs at the Gion-bayashi, a traditional music parade.
Created in Kyoto, it is the 30th times that it occurs and every year, this parade is entertaining.
On the 17th of July, there is another parade which takes place, called the “Yamaboko junko parade. There are lots of “yamahoko” began to stand in the street of Sijo in Kyoto.
The “Yamaboko junko” parade is only a little part of the Gion –matsuri(Festival of Gion)
In japan, there are three big festivals, the “Sandai Matsuri, which various ritual held during the month of July every year.
This is a picture of the “Naginatahoko”, which is put up without using a single nail, but only using ropes.
Gion festival ritual. There is a meaning in each affair and the inhabitants of Kyoto have inherited and passed down this safety.
