REUNION AFTER 10YEARS
The other day, I happened to meet one of my client couples.
It has been 10years since I had supported their wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Hiranuma had their wedding reception at Doi (ryoutei restaurant) on May 25th, 2008.
I was so happy to see them who haven’t changed at all!
Fumiyo-sama in the red dress looked so beautiful.., it seems like only yesterday.
“I would love to see you after 15years and 20years as well.
Thank you for coming back to Doi for your 10th wedding anniversary!”

東京・赤坂にある赤坂氷川神社さん。
ご紹介ムービーが完成いたしました。
氷川神社さんは天暦5年（951年）に祀られ、
1000年以上、赤坂の氏神さまとして土地を守られていました。
- ご社殿は、8代将軍・徳川吉宗公により建てられました。
- The main building was built by 8th Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune.
地震や東京大空襲にもかかわらず
奇跡的に、江戸時代当時のままの姿を残されている大変貴重な神社です。
境内は緑と優しい光に包まれ、
都内にいることを忘れてしまいそうなくらい
とても穏やかな空気が流れています。
神職様のメッセージも頂きました。

HIKAWA SHRINE IN AKASAKA
A introduction video of Hikawa Shrine in Akasaka, Tokyo has been completed.
Hikawa Shrine was first enshrined in A.D.951 (Tempo 5) and has been protecting the Akasaka area over 1,000 years as patron god.
The building had miraculously escaped the big earthquakes and the Great Tokyo Air Raids during the World War II,
and it still retains the precious original features from Edo period.
Once you are in the premises of the shrine, which are full of green and the genial sunlight, you may forget that it is located in the center of Tokyo.
And you will feel the calm air there.
In the video, the Shinshoku (=Shinto Priest) is giving his message to the viewers.

京都三大祭のひとつ「葵祭」が行われました。
「葵祭」は平安時代以来、国家的な行事として行われ、
王朝風俗の伝統が残されているお祭りで、
総勢500余名、馬36頭、牛4頭、牛車2基、輿1台の
風雅な行列は圧巻です。
初夏をむかえようとする京都、
今年も「京料理さくらい」さんより、
鯖寿司を頂戴いたしました。
いつもあたたかいお心づかい、
本当にありがとうございます。

AOI MATSURI, KYOTO
On May 15th, “Aoi Matsuri Festival”, one of the three largest festivals in Kyoto was taken place.
The festival originated in Heian Period used to be conducted as a national event and now it shows us the customs of Imperial court of the ancient time.
The procession of over 500 people with 36 horses, 4 oxen, 2 gissha (=ox-carriages) and 1 koshi (=palanquin) is really overwhelming.
In Kyoto, we feel the beginning of summer.
And “Kyo-ryori Sakurai (ryoutei restaurant)” delivered Saba-zushi (rod-shaped sushi topped with mackerel), a taste of early summer, to us again.
We really appreciate the kindness of Sakurai.

On May 13th, we held a wedding consultation meeting at Clark Chapel in Byron Clark Memorial Hall of Doshisha University
We would like to thank the guests who participated in the event in spite of the rough weather.
There were brides and grooms-to be who traveled all the way from KANTO or CHUGOKU region.
“We’d love to have our wedding ceremony at the important cultural property.”
“We’ll have some guests who will travel long distances to attend our wedding, and therefore we want to give them a special experience.”
Some couples told us.
It will be the one and only wedding at Doshisha Chapel.
We will do our utmost to make the day very special for the bride and groom, as well as for all the guests.

大元宮、本宮にて撮影をいたしました。
- 吉田神道の中心となる「大元宮」
- Daigengu, the center of Yoshida Shinto.
風のそよぐ音、
鳥のさえずりを聞きながらの撮影で、
お式の当日も自然にかこまれ、
とても気持ちが良いだろうなあと思いました。
また神職さんに素晴らしいお話をお伺いし、
あらたに吉田神社さんの素敵を知ることが出来ました。

YOSHIDA SHRINE
We had an opportunity to film Yoshida Shrine the other day.
We filmed at Daigengu and Hongu.
The sound of the birds and breeze made me imagine a wedding ceremony being conducted in beautiful nature.
We learned a lot about Yoshida Shrine through the great stories from the Shinshoku (shinto priest).
The movie will be ready in June.
We can’t wait to show them to everyone!

A WEDDING AT KAMIGAMO SHRINE
A wedding ceremony for the couple from Tokyo was conducted on April 21st at Kamigamo shrine, in the beautiful fresh green.
And they had a wedding reception at Saami ryoutei restaurant after the ceremony.
They have been carefully preparing for the wedding since we had first welcomed them at our Tokyo office.

いつもお世話になっている方よりチケットをいただき、
千秋楽、「都をどり」を見にいきました。
毎回、見ごたえのある内容です。
舞妓さん芸妓さんの華やかな舞は、もちろんですが、
ベテランの地方さんのお三味線が本当に素晴らしかったです。
- 今年も色鮮やかなお着物で、
会場には実際のお着物が展示されていました。
- They were in colorful kimonos this year, too.
And the kimono worn at the show was on display.
受け継がれる伝統はそのままに、
ただ観るだけでなく、設営・写真撮影など
来る人が楽しんで参加できるようなブースが設けられており
新しい見せ方をされているなと勉強になりました。

MIYAKO ODORI
I was lucky enough to get an ticket of “MIYAKO ODORI”
(The traditional Maiko & Geiko dance performance only available in April)
from one of my acquaintances, and went to see it on the final day.
The show was magnificent as always.
Not to mention the gorgeous dance by Maiko and Geiko, the skilled Jikata’s shamisen performance was really amazing.
(Jikata are musical Geisha who are specially trained.)
I was impressed to see that they made an effort to present it in new ways while preserving the tradition.
There was a space where the visitors could enjoy watching exhibitions and taking photos.
I learned a lot from their approach to entertain the guests.

Whenever we talk to Sakurai people, we always feel their strong desire to make their clients happy.

琵琶湖疎水にて撮影の機会をいただきました。
京都に長年住まいながら、このような経験は初めてでした。

疎水のおかげで琵琶湖から水が京都に引かれ、
舟運、水車動力、防水用水など実用的な役割だけでなく、
山形有朋の無鄰菴や、平安神宮、 円山公園などに疎水の水が生かされ、
人々の生活に潤いを与えてくれています。
先人の努力に思いを馳せながら、
単純に美しい景色に見とれ、
紅葉の季節の乗船も素敵だうなと思いました。

PHOTOGRAPHING AT LAKE BIWA CANAL
We conducted the outdoor photography at Lake Biwa Canal.
Although I have been living in Kyoto for long years, I’ve never had such an experience.
Lake Biwa Canal has contributed to the water supply from the lake to Kyoto, the transportation, the power generation and the irrigation.
It also supplies water to the villa of Yamagata Aritomo (famous for its beautiful garden), Heian Jingu Shrine and Maruyama Park and helps to enrich the people’s lives.
Thinking of the efforts of our predecessors, I just gaped at the beautiful scenery and imagined that the Autumn leaves must be beautiful as well.
