365日一日一日、その日のお花、誕生日花があるのはご存知でしょうか。
「誕生花」の決め方は必ずしも一つだけではなく、
開花時期にあわせた日付や、お店でよく見かけられるシーズンに
合わせた日付が多いようです。
Did you know that there are the flower of the day or birthday flower in every 365 days?
The birthday flower is not only selected by one kind, but also the date which fit to the bloom and the date which you could see the flowers.

今日8月19日の誕生日花もいくつかありますがその中の一つが
「金水引」キンミズヒキ!!その名の通りのお花です。
So there are many birthday flowers in one day, but one of the flower of the birthday flower of today, August 19th is KINMIZUHIKI!!
(Agrimonia pilosa)
(or it also means gold-leaf-coated twisted paper)

水引ときき、ウエディングプランナーというお仕事をさせて頂いている今、
パッと思い浮かぶのはご結婚式のご祝儀袋や引菓子・引出物に
かかっている紅白の水引。
実はこの水引は金水引をみたてたものと由来があります。
When you hear MIZUHIKI, as I oneself are working as a wedding planner, I would visualize the red and white colored mizuhiki, Japanese decorated cord made from twisted paper which is decorated on the SHUGIBUKURO(an envelope for presenting a gift of money), and thank-you-for-coming gifts.
Actually, this MIZUHIKI takes its origin from KINMIZUHIKI.

その歴史はさかのぼり古くは遣隋使・小野妹子の時代。
隋からの帰国した際に持ち帰った贈り物に、紅白に染められた麻紐が
結ばれており、これが宮廷で大変喜ばれ、贈り物に結ぶようになり、
広まっていったようです。
Its history is very long time ago that it is in the KENZUI-SHI(a Japanese envoy to Sui Dynasty China) ONONO IMOKO era.
On the gift which he brought back from Sui dynasty, the red and white colored hemp thread was been tied, and this made people of the court rejoiced.
Then they themselves tied it to their gift and then it spread.

相手への敬意や感謝をカタチに表す事はこの時代から
あったことなのですね。
小さなお花にも意味があり、由来がある。
この歴史を知り、『感謝の気持ち』という花言葉にも納得です。
Making the feeling of respect and gratitude to someone into shape were existed from this age.
Even the small flowers have meaning and have its origin.
As I get to know this history, the language of flower of KINMIZUHIKI “the feeling of gratitude” is satisfactory.

決して華やかでは無く、目立たないお花ですが何だかこの金水引に
とても惹かれました。
I was very attracted to this never too gorgeous and never standing out flower, KINMIZUKI.
